Nexural ORB

Opening Range Breakout levels for session-based trading.

BreakoutSessionsLevels

The Opening Range sets the tone for the session. Nexural ORB calculates the high and low of a customizable opening range — typically the first 15 or 30 minutes — and projects breakout levels, extensions, and targets from that range.

When price breaks above the ORB high, it signals bullish commitment for the session. When it breaks below the ORB low, bears have taken control. The extensions (1x, 1.5x, 2x the range width) act as measured move targets — statistically validated levels where price tends to stall or reverse.

ORB works best combined with Volume Profile context. An ORB breakout that aligns with a VP level breakout is far more reliable than ORB alone. Use the Initial Balance (first hour) as a wider reference frame — ORB for the trigger, IB for the context.

What's Inside

Feature Breakdown

Every component of Nexural ORB explained — what it does, why it matters, and how to read it.

Customizable Opening Range

Define the range window: 5, 15, or 30 minutes, or any custom time. The range is calculated from market open and drawn as horizontal levels with fills.

Extension Levels

Projects 1x, 1.5x, and 2x measured move targets from the range. These are statistically validated levels — 1x extensions hit ~65% of the time on trending days.

Session Filtering

Filter by RTH (Regular Trading Hours), ETH (Extended/Globex), or custom sessions. Shows only the session-relevant range for clean analysis.

Breakout Alerts

Automatic alerts when price breaks above or below the opening range with a configurable confirmation (close vs wick). Prevents false breakout triggers.

Initial Balance Reference

Optionally displays the IB (first 60 minutes) alongside the ORB for broader context. ORB gives the trigger, IB gives the framework.

How to Trade It

Trade Setups & Examples

Real trade setups using Nexural ORB. Each example shows the setup, entry trigger, and target.

1
ORB Breakout Long
Setup

Price consolidates inside the 15-min opening range. Volume is building. Range is narrower than the 20-day average ORB — suggesting a bigger move is coming.

Entry

Enter long on the first candle CLOSE above the ORB high (not just a wick). Confirm with QPulse crossing above zero.

Target

Target 1.5x extension above the breakout. If price blows through 1.5x with strong flow, hold for 2x.

2
ORB Fade at Extension
Setup

Price breaks above ORB and reaches the 1.5x extension. Momentum is fading (QPulse approaching extension zone). Volume declining.

Entry

Enter short at the 1.5x extension with a tight stop above 2x. This is a mean-reversion play — the measured move is complete.

Target

Target the ORB midpoint (halfway between ORB high and low). This is a counter-trend trade — take profits quickly.

Configuration

Settings Reference

Every setting explained. Defaults work out of the box — adjust only when you understand why.

Range Period
Default: 15 minutes

Duration of the opening range window. 15 min for futures, 30 min for stocks. Consistency matters more than the exact number.

Show Extensions
Default: On

Display 1x, 1.5x, and 2x measured move extensions from the range.

Confirmation Type
Default: Close

Breakout confirmation: 'Close' requires a candle close beyond the level. 'Wick' triggers on any touch. Close is more reliable; Wick is faster.

Show Initial Balance
Default: Off

Overlay the 60-minute Initial Balance range for broader session context.
