Member questions
Real questions members asked in the server, reworded, with short answers and a link to the page that covers each one.
These are questions members really asked in the server, in the beginner and question channels and by asking Nex. We reworded them and left out names. Each answer is short and links to the page that covers it in full.
Nothing here is advice about your money. You make your own choices.
I'm new to trading. Where do I start?
Start with Your first week. It is a checklist you can tick off, one small step a day. Watch and read first. Do not trade in week one.
Where is the handbook, and do I need an account?
You are reading it. It lives at nexural.io/handbook, and it is free. You do not need an account to read it. The search box at the top finds any page. See Start here.
Where do I get the indicators? Are they free?
Our indicators are free, and they live on TradingView. Each manual page has an "Open on TradingView" button. You need a TradingView account to add them to a chart. See Indicators.
Can I use the indicators on another charting app?
We publish them on TradingView. This handbook only covers TradingView. See Indicators.
Should I use the default settings? What about other markets?
Start with the defaults, and read the manual first. Each manual says what the tool does and what it can't do. The handbook does not give settings for each market. If you change a setting, test it on one market and one chart time before you trust it. See the QPulse manual for an example.
What is STS made of?
STS, the Sage Trading System, is four steps in one order. Where: a level from Volume Profile. When: the QPulse cross at that level. Go or no-go: Flow Pro shows real buying or selling. Risk check: the target is at least three times as far as the stop. See How the Sage Trading System works.
What is the normal stop in STS?
Put the stop just past the level you trade from. Or put it past the last swing low (for a buy) or swing high (for a sell) on the 3-minute chart. Then check that the target is at least three times as far away. If it is not, pass. See Step 4: Is the trade worth it?.
How much should I risk on one trade?
Our rule is 1% of your account per trade by default, and never more than 2%. Keep the total at risk on all open trades at 6% or less. Do not size up after losses. See Position size in plain numbers.
What does "BE" mean?
BE is short for breakeven. It means moving your stop to your entry price. Then the trade can't turn into a loss, unless price jumps past your stop. In STS you do this after the first target is hit. See Breakeven in the glossary.
Price is far from every level. How do I trade that?
You wait. STS starts with a level. A timing signal in the middle of nowhere means nothing, and your stop has no clear place to go. Mark your levels and let price come to you. See Step 1: Where.
What do the lines and zones on Volume Profile mean?
The point of control (POC) is the price with the most trading. The value area high and low (VAH and VAL) are the top and bottom of the zone that holds about 70% of the trading. Busy prices are high volume nodes, and thin prices are low volume nodes. No level is a sure bounce. See the Volume Profile manual.
Is it OK to trade late in the day, or when I'm down?
STS has no fixed cut-off time. The last hour gets busy again, and it brings good setups and fake ones. After 3 small losses in a day, take a 30-minute break. After 5, stop for the day. See An STS trading day and The STS rules.
Where do I post my trades and questions? Is there a format?
Ask in the beginner questions channel, or post a chart in trade reviews. Use the first chart question form on Getting help. Fill in each line. A clear question gets a clear answer.
How do I see my points, level or rank?
Type /mystats in the server. It shows your XP (points), level, streak and achievements. See Getting help.
Can I sign up for Pro yet?
Not yet. New paid plans are paused. Join the free founding list to get in first when they open. It takes no payment. See Plans and waitlist.
Does Pro include Automation?
Yes. Automation (beta) included: our trading bots, running on paper trading while we test them together. See Automation.
Why can't I see some channels?
Some channels are for the paid Pro plan. The free channels are open to everyone. See Channels by plan for the full list.
Are the alerts Sage's own trades?
No. System alerts are our engine's trade ideas. They are scored on the proof page, and they are hypothetical. Sage's real stock and ETF trades are on the trade log. See Trade log vs proof.
Does the course cover the book?
They are two different things. The book, The Asymmetric Investor, is free to read on nexural.io. The free first course, How To Learn Markets, is on the Academy. See The book.
